RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2010 Plant of the Year

Its official! Streptocarpus 'Harlequin Blue' has been chosen from a shortlist of 20 plants as the RHS Chelsea 2010 Plant of the Year.

Plants were entered by floral and garden exhibitors at the show and voted on by the RHS Plants Advisory Committee. The winning plant was raised by Lynne Dibley and is exhibited at Chelsea for the first time.

RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2010 – Hot, tropical and 'electric'

When press day dawned, with pure blue skies and just a hint of the tropical heat which was to follow, we all knew that we were in for a glorious and fantastic Chelsea. It didn’t disappoint.

The 2010 RHS Chelsea Flower Show is one of the best I have attended and the brilliant sunshine – a mini heat-wave with temperatures reaching 30 degrees – really put nature’s seal of approval on the proceedings.

Historic watercolour to star at 2010 Chelsea Flower Show

The image chosen to represent the 2010 RHS Chelsea Flower Show is inspired by a historic watercolour from the world famous Lindley Library collection. The vibrant Paeonia anomala by Lilian Snelling (1879-1972) will be the star of the show and is one of over 850 beautiful illustrations and photographs which are now has available for purchase from www.rhsprints.co.uk

Lilian Snelling was one of the leading botanical artists of the twentieth century.
