RHS urges primary schools to get their grown-ups growing The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) has launched a nationwide initiative that will bring teachers, pupils and local adults together to develop school gardens.

Part of the RHS Campaign for School Gardening, ‘Get your grown-ups growing’, will run in October.  With primary schools across the country planning gardening events at which parents, grandparents and other adults can join the children and have fun in the garden, the RHS is urging as many primary schools as possible to get involved.

Space Ritual and gardening collide at Tatton Park

Sandy Felton finds out what’s ‘hot’ at this year’s RHS Tatton Park and finds some very entertaining gardens.

For me, the 2010 RHS Tatton Park Flower Show will be remembered for two things. The first is the exceptional quality of the Visionary Gardens category and the entertaining entries in the National Flower Bed Competition.

The second is Tony Heywood’s Gold medal winning 'Space Ritual' (pictured left).

Music, Tranquility and a Space Ritual all set to conquer Tatton Park

The Reckless Gardener team always look forward to RHS Tatton Park Flower Show because it is ‘our show’, the North-West’s very own showpiece.  As a result we feel very much at home.

Tatton has gone from strength to strength over the last decade and the 2010  show promises to continue the high standards we have now come to expect from RHS Tatton.

So what delights are we in for?

RHS Hampton Court Flower Show 2010 Festival of Roses – definitely a champagne moment

The RHS Hampton Court Flower Show Festival of Roses is a firm favourite with show-goers and is certainly always high on my list of priorities. The sumptuous smell when you enter the Rose Marquee is unequalled anywhere and the sight of all those wonderful blooms, brought to the peak of perfection for the show, is a rose lovers heaven.

One of the highlights of the Festival of Roses is the Rose of the Year award, which this year has been awarded to Mattocks Roses for their Joie de Vivre ‘Korfloci01’ -  a lightly fragranced, creamy pastel pink rose Floribunda.
